The CIA Challenge Exam is a fast-track pathway for qualified professionals such as CAs, CPAs, and ACCAs to attain the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) certification. Instead of taking all three levels exam, eligible candidates clear just one exam focused on core internal audit principles.

The CIA Challenge route is open to professionals who already hold qualifications like CA, CPA, ACCA, CISA, or other accounting bodies. Anyone who is a member of the 28 accounting bodies of the IIA can pursue the CIA Challenge.

The CIA Challenge Exam condenses the full CIA syllabus into a single comprehensive exam. It includes:

• Internal audit basics and standards (IPPF)
• Section 1: Essentials of Internal Auditing
• Section 2: Practice of Internal Auditing
• Section 3: Business Knowledge for Internal Auditing
• Understanding of Organization, Financial and Managerial Accounting ( For CISA Holders )
• Business Acumen, Data Analytics, IT & Security ( For CA, CPA, ACCA, etc)

The regular CIA program includes a 3-part exam, ideal for beginners or early-career professionals in Auditing. In contrast, the CIA Challenge Exam is a one-part, fast-track version created for experienced professionals who already hold a recognized accounting or auditing designation. It offers a quicker route to certification, with one exam only and less preparation time, but with the same goal of becoming a CIA-certified professional.

The AIA 2025 CIA Challenge Prep Course offers a complete package including expert-curated short notes, recorded lectures of 70 hours, Live doubt-clearing sessions every week, mock tests, and practice questions. AIA CIA Challenge prep strategy designed especially for working professionals. Everything is updated in the AIA LMS portal (Learning Management System) for easy access.

No, the AIA CIA Prep Course is exhaustive in itself. You’ll receive expert-prepared short notes, concept-based lectures, mock tests, and personal guidance. So, you don't need to refer to another prep course after getting enrolled with AIA.

After completing the registration process, the hard copy of the books will be provided along with online access to LMS within 24 hours.

AIA Course prep is fully online and flexible. We will provide pre-recorded video lectures, practice questions, etc, through the AIA LMS App, which will be accessible on desktop/laptop or mobile phone.

It is recommended to watch video lectures once but with full attention. You don't need to watch it again. However, two times access is provided.

The validity of the CIA challenge prep course will be for one year. Also, we will be happy to extend our support for a couple of months more, depending on the aspirant's request & genuineness, if there is a genuine cause for the request for extension, AIA will be happy to assist further.

IIA India Membership fees are INR 7,670, and Renewal fees every year are INR 4,500 + GST.

You will need to provide evidence of education and a character certificate.

You will be required to upload and present a valid government-issued ID, matching the name on your ID with the name on your web account profile and in your appointment confirmation email. Please ensure that you possess a valid ID at the time of taking your exam. Acceptable forms of identification for those residing in India include: Aadhaar card, Indian Passport, and a Driver's license (only smart card). They must be presented in their original form at the time of the exams and must be in English.

Candidates must submit a Character Reference from either the CIA or the candidate's supervisor. You have to initiate an online request for the same under your CCMS profile.

Yes, retaking the CIA Challenge Exam requires a re-exam fee. Retake registrations are open year-round, and you can schedule your exam during the designated retake windows in January, June, August, and November. As per The IIA’s retake policy, candidates are allowed up to eight attempts within their program eligibility period.

AIA is committed to helping you clear the exam in one go, but in case of any bad luck, you need a retake, we’ll stand by you with complete support to clear the exam successfully.

Candidates must obtain a score of 600 or higher (out of 750) to pass the examination. Simply put, you can consider 80 % as the passing score for each part.

Yes, you may find your local testing center by going to www.pearsonvue.com/iia. Select “Find a test center,” then check your availability and location, and book your slot accordingly. Candidates are advised to check seat availability in a location of their choice well in advance.

The CIA Challenge Exam is conducted 4–5 times a year during fixed testing windows announced by The IIA. These windows are usually available in January, June, August, and November only throughout the year.

Once you submit the exam, you will get the result based on your selection. If you give the CIA for Accounting, then it takes approximately 24 hours after you have completed your exam.

If you took the CIA challenge for Information Systems, then exam results will be announced in 3-4 weeks after closing the test window. You will receive a system-generated email notifying you that your exam score is available.

After your program and examination are reviewed, you will obtain your CIA certification. This usually occurs within 10-15 business days, tentatively after successfully passing the examination.
